Sermorelin before and after shows measured change, not sales photos
See what changed in blood tests and growth, how long each study lasted, and what remains unknown.
The studies measured blood, growth, and body fat
A lab-made form of the brain's request for more growth hormone is called Sermorelin. This sermorelin before and after page compares study measurements, not sales photos. You will see what researchers checked first and what they checked later.
Older men began with growth hormone and IGF-1, a later hormone from your liver, at levels that tend to fall with age. After two weeks, both matched younger men's readings [2]. Yearly growth nearly doubled in children whose growth-hormone supply was low [1]. Tesamorelin, a different medicine drawn from the same natural hormone, cut body fat by 7.4% over 20 weeks [7]. That last result wasn't from Sermorelin.
You can trace each change to a study. No study fills in the long-term result for an older adult.
The larger amount moved older men's tests into a younger range
The most-cited result comes from healthy men in later life. Their average age was 68. Before treatment, growth hormone and IGF-1, which your liver makes, were at lower levels common with age. Researchers then used 0.5 mg or 1 mg twice daily for 14 days. The 24-hour readings climbed higher at the larger amount. At that amount, growth hormone and IGF-1 matched younger men's readings [2]. Fasting blood sugar didn't change [2].
These blood tests give you a two-week result in a younger range. The study didn't measure how the men looked or felt. It also didn't show that the change would last. A brief blood-test change can't prove a lasting benefit [2].

Children's yearly growth nearly doubled
The clearest visible change came from children whose bodies made too little growth hormone. Before Sermorelin, they grew about 4.1 cm/year. After receiving a daily shot into fat below the skin, they grew roughly 7-8 cm/year. IGF-1, a later hormone made in your liver, didn't rise too high [1].
A ruler could show that near doubling. It wasn't only a blood-test change. This childhood use once had drug approval [1]. The finding doesn't tell you what an older adult can expect.
Tesamorelin lowered body fat; Sermorelin wasn't tested
The body-fat result often linked to Sermorelin came from tesamorelin. Tesamorelin is a different medicine drawn from the same natural hormone, and it remains in blood longer. A study followed 152 older adults for 20 weeks. They received 1 mg/day before bed. Body fat fell 7.4%. IGF-1, a later hormone made in your liver, rose 117%, yet ended within normal limits. A big percentage change can still finish inside those limits. Thinking scores also improved a little [7].
Credit those results to tesamorelin. They don't prove that Sermorelin gives the same result [7]. Keeping the drugs apart avoids a claim that the study never made.
No study shows the result after years of Sermorelin
The adult studies stopped after two weeks or a 20-week period. They don't tell you what happens after months or years. Strong, long studies of use against aging remain scarce. A 2008 medical article said the evidence did not support that use [5].
The long-term comparison still has no ending. Before treatment, growth hormone and IGF-1, which your liver makes, may be lower with age. After years of Sermorelin, no strong study gives a clear answer. Guessing would hide the useful fact: the long result isn't known.
